Sally Louise (Snyder) Shaffer, age 73, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana. Sally had been battling cancer for a couple of years and eventually succumbed to the illness. She was born in Huntington, Indiana on March 17, 1951, to Warren and Marjorie (Griffith) Snyder. She married Melvin Shaffer in 1978 and they shared forty-six years and a blended family together.
Sally was an avid Colts fan (to put it mildly), she loved watching women's softball, going to bingo, sewing and going to the casinos when possible. In fact, her last journey out of the house was to enjoy a trip to the casino with two of her daughters. Over the years, Sally loved a variety of cats, her trips with her sister Nancy and brother Jim, and most of all she loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout her life she had worked in several different occupations, a couple being a seamstress and working with her husband Mel as a roofer.
Sally is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Shaffer; daughters, Cindy Rupp (Craig), Stacy Denny (Robert), Suzanne Harrington (Chad), and JoAnn Freeman (Jason); sister, Nancy Hyndman of Florida; brother, James Snyder of Ohio; six step-children; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, fifty step-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Marjorie; a sister, Sue. Ann Costello; brothers, Richard and Steven Robert Snyder; and grandson, Jakob Lewis.
We all would like to thank Ascension St. Vincent Hospital and Hospice for all her loving care.
In lieu of flowers, Sally would love to have donations made to Kokomo Humane Society.
Neptune Society is in charge of cremation arrangements.
