Paul Ballard Healey

Paul B. Healey, age 89, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away at Community Hospital South on Monday, March 24, 2025. He was born in Cass County, Indiana on November 12, 1935 to Charles J. Healey and Leona F. (Smith) Healey.

Paul enlisted in the Army after high school and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia from 1954-1957. He then earned his Master’s degree and became a teacher. Paul married Patricia L. Nation and she preceded him in death in July of 2021.

Paul lived a life of service, serving in the Korean War and as a public-school teacher. He was a man of faith and loved attending church and volunteering for the food pantry. He loved all sports and was an IU fan and in more recent years became a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Paul was a good listener, a dog lover and a generous donor to many charities. He also loved going on walks, going out to eat with family and friends and just catching up. He loved visiting and talking to his wonderful neighbors.

The family would like to personally thank Brenda and Serita from Visiting Angels for the friendship, care, and compassion they showed Paul in the last few years. We are truly grateful for them.

Paul is survived by: his sons, Michael Healey (Diana Lawson) and Mark Healey (Cindy Luttrell); his daughter, Melinda Ottinger (husband, Patrick); grandchildren, Kyndra Garringer (fiancé Eric Blythe), Kyra Garringer, Kadin Ottinger, Katelynn Luttrell, Christeena Brinson, Dustin Healey (fiancé Alicia Smith), Michael Healey, Steven Smith, Ashley Lehr (husband, Tristan), Michelle Healey Petrovic, and Kenna Healey; and great-grandchildren, Bentley, Kynlee, David, Brooklyn, Xain, Autumn, and Marley.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Patricia; his son, Matthew Healey, who passed away 3-16-2025; his parents, Charles and Leona Healey; brothers, Lawrence Healey, Charles Healey, Basil Healey, and Roy Healey; sisters, Naomia Healey, Madella Healey Gellinger, Ruth Healey, and Millicent Healey Wooten.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Road, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm with the service at 4:00 pm. A dinner will immediately follow in the fellowship hall.

Military honors will be conducted by the IMMHG.
