Jerri M Smoot

Jerri M. Smoot, age 74, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, with her family at her side. She was born in Indianapolis on August 8, 1951, to Joseph Moody and Dorothy (Frost) Moody.

A 1969 graduate of Howe High School, Jerri went on to marry the love of her life, Mark Smoot, on January 17, 1970. Together they shared fifty-six beautiful years of marriage. Later in life, Jerri followed her passion for helping others and continued her education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University. She dedicated her meaningful career to caring for patients at both Methodist Hospital and Community Hospital in Indianapolis.

Jerri lived a life deeply rooted in her love for her family, her calling as a nurse, and her Savior. Becoming a nurse was a lifelong dream and she spent many years dedicated to the work she loved-tenderly caring for others. Her family truly meant the world to her.

She loved traveling with her husband, especially to the beaches of Florida and Mexico. She raised three daughters who loved her deeply and will miss her beyond words. Jerri adored her grandchildren and took great joy in spoiling them. They are left with countless wonderful memories of swimming, shopping, playing games, watching movies, and taking trips together. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by each of them.

Jerri loved the Lord with all her heart and found peace daily in scriptures and worship music. Her passion for music extended to all genres, and up until her final days, she was known for her joyful spirit and love of dancing. Having spent her life longing for her heavenly home, Jerri is now at peace with her Savior, resting in a perfect and healed body.

Left behind to cherish her memory are: her loving husband, Mark; her daughters, Michelle Hardebeck, Emily (Lee) Blackwell, and Angela (Sean) Pike; sisters, Janice Grell and Jeanette Moody; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Jerri’s Life will be Monday, June 8, 2026, at Pendleton Baptist Church, 207 Old Indiana 132, Pendleton, IN 46064. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The service will begin at 3:00 pm.

A private graveside service will be at a later date at Grove Lawn Cemetery, 537 N Pendleton Ave, Pendleton, IN 46064.
