Gerard August Froehlich, age 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at I.U. Methodist Hospital. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 2, 1948 to Norman W. Froehlich and Jean M. (Nipgen) Froehlich. He married Florence McClurg and they later divorced.
Gerard joined the Air Force and proudly served his country. He was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey from 1967-1971.
Gerard was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He loved to travel and volunteer. He enjoyed his motorcycle and fishing. Gerard was quite the connoisseur of coffee and was a member of the Lions Club in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was also a very spiritual man who loved the Lord.
Gerard leaves behind: a daughter, Tiffany (Froehlich) Barlet ; a sister, Lynne Riikonen; grandchildren, Allissa Monczki, Jerome Schultz, Jacob Froehlich, Natasha Froehlich, Shane Barlet, Catalina Barlet, and Antonio Barlet; his close friends, Brian and Wendy McCauley and their children, and Juliann Kumm.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Norman and Jean Froehlich; and a daughter, Geri Michelle Froehlich; a granddaughter, Adrianna Froehlich; and ex-wife, Florence Froehlich.
A Celebration of Life is being planned. His final resting place will be at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. Neptune Society has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
