Sheryl lived a life defined by dedication, warmth, and vibrant spirit. A 1965 high school graduate, she attended Porter College for one year to study business before beginning a distinguished career in transportation. She worked almost thirty years at Fort Benjamin Harrison and retired as a Shipment Clerk/Transportation Assistant, where she was respected for her hard work and commitment. Even after retirement, Sheryl continued doing what she knew best, serving as an Administrative Assistant/Invoicing Specialist for Vitran Express and remaining in the transportation industry she valued so much.
Later in life, Sheryl embraced a new chapter and changed careers when she joined Bluestone Apartments in Greenfield, and later at Reflections at Bluestone as a leasing agent, where her friendly personality and ability to connect with others made her a natural fit. She also generously gave her time as a volunteer at Hancock Regional Hospital, serving at the surgery center help desk offering kindness and assistance to patients and families.
Outside of work, Sheryl found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, shopping, and spending time socializing with friends. She loved going out to eat, especially breakfast at Jim Dandy’s and Bob Evans. She also enjoyed relaxing with her beloved Hallmark movies. She especially delighted in decorating her home for every holiday, filling it with festive cheer and creativity throughout the year. She also loved baking holiday treats to give away and share with others.
Above all, she loved her family fiercely and cherished every moment spent with them. Sheryl’s love of bright colors reflected her lively personality perfectly – warm, cheerful, and impossible to forget.
She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her joyful spirit, and the color and happiness she brought to the lives of those around her.
