Patrice Palma of California, formerly of Buffalo, New York, passed away surrounded by family. Born and raised in Buffalo, Patrice moved to California at age 18 and built a life defined by love, “FUN” and storytelling.
A dedicated nurse for more than 70 years at Kaiser Permanente, Patrice spent most of her clinical career in dermatology. Patients remember her tenderness and calm—she would often sing softly during procedures to ease their nerves—and she received countless thank-you notes for going above and beyond. Her kindness and steady presence, plus just the right amount of mischief, left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike.
Patrice treasured her Buffalo roots. A graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, she fondly recalled school activities, singing in the choir and time with her best friend and neighbor “BB.” Those early friendships and memories of her family and home remained a source of joy throughout her life.
After retiring from nursing, Patrice continued to share her love of history and storytelling as a docent at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, where she delighted visitors with anecdotes and laughter. A lifelong student of politics, she described herself as a “Kennedy Democrat,” though in later years she often voted conservatively. Her curiosity, wit and spirited conversation made her company anyone’s pleasure. Patrice’s life was rich with friendships and family. She loved many people deeply and was loved in return.
Patrice’s two children, Colleen and Matthew, along with their children and grandchildren, were grateful to share in her 93 years and will lay her to rest in Buffalo, New York, per her wishes. Her family is grateful to all who supported her and brightened her days.
