Roger R. Martel, 96, of Englewood, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his closest family at Lowell General Hospital on Saturday, March 15, 2025. A beloved father, Pep, uncle and friend, Roger will always be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, generous spirit and overall love of life itself.
Born on June 10, 1928, in Suncook, NH, to Leopold and Alice (Ricard) Martel, Roger was predeceased by his beloved siblings Vivian Lamontagne, Estelle Costigan, Maurice Martel and Beatrice Martel Daneault. He was a devoted husband to Anita (Boulet) Martel, who predeceased him in 1991, and subsequently a loving and devoted husband to Dorothy Robinson of Nova Scotia, Canada.
Roger led a fulfilling life, serving in the US Army Air Corps and working as a construction supervisor. After retirement, Roger could always be found working on a new project around his home or helping his friends with their projects. He enjoyed music and dancing, especially the jitterbug. He split his time between Massachusetts and Florida, making countless friends and memories along the way.
He is survived by his son Gary Martel of Plainville, MA; granddaughters Amy (Martel) Ready and her husband Joe, Michele (Martel) James and her husband James; and great-grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Andrew, Mary and Layla, who brought immense joy to his life, as well as extended loving family in NH and Canada. Roger is also survived by a son James L. Martel and grandson James N. Martel.
A Catholic Mass will be held to celebrate Roger's life at a later date. Additionally, a Veteran Graveside Service will be conducted to honor his service to our country.
Those who wish to celebrate Roger's life are asked to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or planting a tree in his memory.
