Rita Helen McAdoo

Rita Helen McAdoo (Mammy Miss Rita, the Grape) of Madison Maine passed away on Thursday July 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 77. She was born on June 18, 1946 in Cambridge, Ma where she grew up with her Sister Marie after the death of her parents. Rita spent the majority of her life caring for children with over 30 years of in home daycare in Lowell, MA. As well as many children coming and going through her foster home across multiple states. She is preceded by her parents Marie Antoinette and Robert McAdoo, her brothers Robert, Dick and John McAdoo as well as 2 sisters Terry Spartichino and Ann McAdoo. She is also Preceded by her son Matthew MacDonald. She is survived by her Sister and Brother in law Marie and Bob Moalli. Her 3 sons, Eric and Cindy MacDonald , Ryan MacDonald and Andy McAdoo. Her grandchildren Leighann and Roy Call, Alexis Mcvicar, Melanie Tardiff, Jack MacDonald and James MacDonald. Also great grandchildren Christopher Call, Madelyn Call and Kenzie Columbus. As well as so many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was a 2nd mother to many and had the heart of a giver. The family would like to thank South Shore Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our Mammy in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass at St Marie's in Lowell, Ma at 75 Chamberlain St, Lowell, MA 01852 on July 15th at 12 noon. The family invites you to join them at the knickerbocker club directly across the street immediately after the mass for a celebration of life gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you please consider making a donation in her honor to your local foster care agencies.
