Winston, Thomas, LJ, Joe, and Julia! My sincere and heartfelt condolences to each of you. I hadn't seen Mary on FB in months and had been thinking of her. I sent a text a few days ago and it went unanswered.  I searched and was deeply saddened to learn of her passing..
I so loved Mary's tenacity,  conviction and her fearlessnes to speak her mind! She was a gem!!
I first knew Mary as a young girl. I babysat for the Thomas kids. Mary and I spent lots of time playing with the dollhouse LJ built for her. I enjoyed reconnecting with Mary on FB. Mary was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew her. Sending love. Patti

When I first came to work for READS in June of 2024, I had the opportunity to meet Mary Stone during my first summer program. She had recently returned after battling cancer. Although her recovery was a gradual process, she faced it with remarkable strength, courage, and determination.The following year, we worked together in 6th grade until she transferred to Mrs. Silver's classroom a few months later. This school year, however, Mary and I worked side by side in Mrs. Meyers' 4th–5th grade classroom. It was during this time that I truly got to know the person behind the title of Mrs. Stone.

What I discovered was a woman who was deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of our students. Mary was strong, resilient, and never afraid to stand up for herself or for what she believed in. She approached every challenge with grace and conviction, and her dedication to others left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Whether she was supporting a student, encouraging a colleague, or sharing her wisdom and humor, Mary made those around her better. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit are qualities that will never be forgotten. The impact she made on our school community and on the lives of those she touched will continue to be felt for years to come.

You will be truly missed, Mary Stone. May your memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you. ❤️

She was such a great life force. Always everything a human should ever be. Here being captured with Thomas, and paroled during battle re-enactment at the  Fort at Number 4. She will be most seriously missed.

I met Mary at Kenyon College in the 1980s.  Kenyon didn’t have any sororities, so four of us made up our own sorority:  Beta Kappa Gamma Mu (Brenda, Katrina, Gail, and Mary).  We had t-shirts made with the Greek letters on it.

I am so saddened by the loss of my friend and colleague, Mary . She will always be one of the kindest, smartest, determined, humble people I know. Her dedication to the students she worked with is immeasurable. She was a lifelong learner, always trying to get better at whatever she did. She always had a friendly heartfelt greeting, even as she was fighting the battle of her life. We bonded as mom’s of only sons who are close in age❤️. You will be deeply missed , more than you could imagine. It has been a blessing to call you friend. Sending my love and deepest sympathy to Winston and Thomas,  her two favorite people 💔

Mary was a warm and sincere human being. She fought an amazingly courageous, admirable battle against cancer. May her memory be eternal and her soul rest peacefully. May all who loved her find peace with her passing. Our deepest condolences to Winston and Tom.
