Marjorie Medeiros

Marjorie “Midge” Medeiros, formerly of Dartmouth, MA and Sarasota, FL, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family and her best friend of over 60 years, Barbara “Bunny” Norton.

Midge was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Beatrice (Cloutier) Peters and the late Henry Peters. She graduated from New Bedford High School in 1953. Midge worked for Chas. Ashley Ins. Co., and later as an Optometric Assistant for Dr. Joseph Glennon in New Bedford.

Midge was a vibrant, sweet, friendly lady who enjoyed large gatherings with family and friends, and was called “Mom” by so many of her children’s friends, and even some nieces and nephews. She had a positive way of communicating and connecting with everyone and was extremely giving of her time. She especially enjoyed birthday celebrations, and she made a fantastic iced lemon sponge cake that everyone loved.

Midge and Dick lived in Sarasota, FL for many years before moving back to Massachusetts in 2023 to be closer to their family. They enjoyed the warm weather, taking long walks every day, and gathering with their beloved friends in their community, The Meadows.

Survivors include her husband of over 68 years, Richard R. Medeiros; her son, Richard R. Medeiros, Jr; her daughter, Janet L. Harrison and her husband, Brian F. Harrison; her daughter, Linda Fredette and her husband, Donald H. Fredette; her grandchildren, Jared H. Fredette, Daniel R. Medeiros, Alexandra I. Medeiros; a great-grandson, Roger Medeiros; and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan (Peters) Baker.

A Remembrance Service/Celebration of Life will be held at Allendale Country Club, 1047 Allen Street, North Dartmouth, MA on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, mom would want you to take a lovely walk through a park (Buttonwood Park was her favorite), or plant some flowers in your yard (she especially loved mandeville), or just enjoy being together with friends and family…and maybe bake an iced lemon sponge cake.
