Maria “Bernie” DiFalco, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday. She was predeceased by her parents, sister and brother. She is survived by her sister-in-law, seven nieces and nephews, and fifteen great nieces and nephews.
Bernie graduated from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing and was presented the Samuel Weiner Award. She earned her BSN from Boston College, and her MSN from Wayne State University in Detroit. She graduated with honors from both.
Her career involved clinical and administrative positions in both the public and private sector, including a faculty position with the RECEP II Program at Regis College.
She was born and raised in Brockton, MA but moved to Colorado in the 70s. She had most recently lived in Broomfield, CO before returning to Brockton in 2020 to be closer to family. In Broomfield she was active in many volunteer activities – library, cemetery committee, Brunner House Summer Fun Days and numerous health fairs. As a board member of the Senior Resources of Broomfield, she was instrumental in publishing a community cookbook as a successful fundraising activity. Her favorite fundraiser was the Meal on Wheels basket auction because of all the community members who wanted to be involved.

Dear Family and Friends: I want you to know how much I appreciated all you have done for me. Think of me when you walk the beaches, or stroll beneath the maples in the fall, or you laugh at a dachshund trying to catch his ear. I have many fond memories and few regrets. It is time for me to leave, and sister already has the Scrabble board set up. If you feel so inclined, forward donations to your favorite charity. Until we meet again, love, hugs and warm fuzzies for all. Thanks for the memories.
There will be a private cremation. A memorial will be held on a later date.
