Lawrence “Larry” Loughran, 76, resident of Hopkinton, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023. Meeting and knowing Larry was truly an experience. His humor, brilliant mind, and passion for God, Country, and Family was always on full display. Larry was the light and life of the party, every time without fail. Born and raised in Canton, MA youngest of 6 children of Thomas and Adelyne Loughran. He graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 1965, joined the Air Force, served overseas and was a proud veteran, and earned his bachelor’s degree in education from UMASS, Boston. He practiced his love of history as a teacher at Foxboro Regional Charter School. Larry loved riding his Harley Davidson through the Kangamangus Highway of New Hampshire with his wife Barbara. He had a love of music, playing, writing, and listening. He was a gifted musician playing the drums, guitar, and the lead signer of his band Fine China. If Larry didn’t have an instrument or microphone in his hand he would adlib with the nearest table, dashboard, or kitchen utensil he could find.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Barbara Loughran, his children Kimberly and her husband Robert White of Uxbridge, his daughter Erika and her husband Chip Maurer of Hopkinton, his daughter Heather and her husband Paul Fiore of Kingston, his daughter Joy and her husband Justin Wilkes of Cumberland, and his son Alexander and his wife Anu Loughran of Maui as well as 20 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his sister Jane Ann Allen and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church 77 Mendon Street, Uxbridge on Friday, May 12 at 10:00am followed by a Celebration of Life reception.
