Dr. Kyle Jeffrey Sanchez was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 3, 1994 to parents Raoul Sanchez and Kim Dal Porto (formerly Kim Sanchez). He moved to Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 3 and remained there until he graduated high school.
In Jacksonville, Kyle attended Riverside Presbyterian Day School, James Weldon Johnson Middle School and Stanton College Preparatory School. He furthered his education at the University of Central Florida where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biology, and then completed 4 years of medical school earning his medical doctor degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. There he received the prestigious honor of being accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Upon medical school graduation, Kyle pursued further postgraduate residency training at Harvard’s Mass General Hospital in anesthesiology. He was a clinically excellent, well-liked team member who also served as a leader for fellow LGBTQ residents. His impact in equity and mentorship extended throughout the entire Boston medical community.
Kyle was widely published in his areas of passion which were advancing the perioperative management of transgender and gender diverse patients and in the management of the emergency airway.
Kyle's interests included music, piano, exercise, and travel. He was well-traveled for his age, and enjoyed meeting new people and broadening his knowledge of the world and its many cultures.
Kyle was a faithful friend to many and an amazing member of a family that loved him dearly. Many shared how regardless of whatever pressure he was under, he always looked beyond himself to aid others that were struggling in any way.
He leaves behind his parents Raoul Sanchez and James West, and Kim Dal Porto and Jeff Dal Porto; his sister Alyssa Saxton and her husband Mike Saxton; his step-siblings Haley West, Davis Sandoval West and Davis’ spouse Sophia Sandoval West, Sean Dal Porto, Matt Dal Porto, Chris Dal Porto and Josh Dal Porto; his grandmothers Barbara Holmes and Deborah Kondelik; as well as many family members and friends that adored him.
He left a great impression on the life of everyone he met. His legacy will be carried on by the clinical work he has done, and the love and positive energy he placed into the hearts of his loved ones.
