Kathryn Russo Baptiste, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Eugenia Russo and Angelo Russo, Kathryn lived a life centered on faith, family, and kindness.
Kathryn dedicated her career to education as a mathematics teacher at Bishop Stang High School and New Bedford High School. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with her students, building meaningful relationships that extended far beyond the classroom. She was not only a teacher but also a mentor, encourager, and trusted friend whose influence remained with many of her students throughout their lives.
She was a proud and supportive “Nonni” to Parker, Luke, Ayla, and Owen. She spoiled them with thoughtful gifts and sweet treats whenever she had the chance. She treasured every moment spent with them and created countless memories they will cherish forever.
Kathryn found joy in life’s simple pleasures—baking for those she loved, a night of dancing, tending to her garden, and spending time with her beloved dog, Ruby. A woman of deep faith, she was an active and devoted member of her church, where she found friendship, purpose, and strength throughout her life.
Kathryn will be remembered for her compassionate heart, generous spirit, unwavering faith, and the countless lives she touched as a mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the students she inspired, and in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her former husband, Brian and their daughters, Jeana, Alaina, Erica, and Rachael; her cherished grandchildren, Parker, Luke, Ayla, and Owen, her sister Nancy, family, friends, former students, and all whose lives were enriched by her kindness and wisdom.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, July 30, at 10:30 AM at her church, the Christian Fellowship Center, 822 Church Street, New Bedford, MA. A luncheon will follow. All are welcomed to attend.
