CONLEY, James J. Age 75, of Bourne, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at South Shore Hospital, Weymouth, Ma. He was the son of the late James J. Conley and Mary M. Conley (Irvine) of Boston, Ma. James was brought up in Dorchester, MA, a proud “DOT rat”. He later raised his family in Blackstone, MA. In 2006, his love of the Cape brought him to retire in Bourne, MA.
Jimmy, as he was lovingly referred to, was a Coast Guard Veteran, 1971. He was a strong supporter of Military Veteran services and programs. Jimmy continued on to hold a 30 year career with The United States Postal Service.
He absolutely loved music, having a photographic memory of bands, dates and songs that spanned the years. He was an avid history buff and loved documentaries and traveling to historical places.
Since a young boy, Jimmy had enjoyed his time by the ocean both on the south shore and on Cape Cod; he loved the ocean and boats. Jimmy also devoted many hours to one of his favorite hobbies of gardening and maintaining his beautiful yard. Jimmy had an especially soft spot for animals, bears being one of his favorites. He enjoyed summer vacations with his family on the Cape, trips to the White Mountains in NH and trips with his wife to Bermuda.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Claudia Conley; daughters, Maureen Levasseur of Bellingham, MA and Jaime Brisson of Wake Forest, NC; grandsons Alex, Landon and Mason; sisters, Patricia Brackett of Bridgewater, MA and Mary Conley of Boston, MA and many loving nieces and nephews.
In honor of the family’s wishes, private services will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
