Eddie was the beloved husband of Barbara J. Pizzi, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, family, and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Lori-Ann Pizzi of Weymouth, MA, and her partner, Matthew McCarthy of Quincy, MA, and to Mark Pizzi and his wife, Colleen, of Kingston, MA. Of all the titles he held throughout his life, the one he cherished most was “Papa.” He was incredibly proud to be Papa to his beloved granddaughter, Abigail Pizzi, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
He was the beloved son of the late Edward and Mary (Cammorata) Pizzi of Revere, MA. He was a loving brother to Paul Pizzi and his wife, Deborah, of Danvers, MA; the late Susan Pizzi of Revere, MA; and Janice Pizzi of Revere, MA. He was a dear brother-in-law to Julia Cawley of Tewksbury, MA; Jean McGloin of Braintree, MA; Robert Cox of Salisbury MA and a much-loved uncle to his many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Eddie worked for Investors Bank & Trust for many years before taking advantage of an opportunity for early retirement. Retirement gave Eddie the chance to devote his time to what mattered most to him: his family. He spent his days caring for those he loved, attending sporting events, and making sure there was always dinner on the table each night.
He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Eddie treasured the many good times he shared with the “travel group.” From concerts and day trips, sporting events, to their much-loved vacations in Aruba, there was never a shortage of fun, laughter, and wonderful memories.
When Eddie and Barbara moved to Florida, Eddie quickly embraced the Florida lifestyle. Some of his happiest early days were spent floating in the Gulf at Clearwater Beach with family and friends. He loved attending Red Sox Spring training games, visiting the casino and playing with his favorite slot machines, and especially opening his home to friends and family visiting from Massachusetts. Their visits brought him tremendous joy, and he always looked forward to spending time together.
As Multiple Sclerosis began to affect his mobility more significantly, Eddie remained determined to live life as fully and independently as possible. He served as vice president of his condominium association, enjoyed hanging out around the complex with his friends, and became a familiar sight traveling around on his mobility scooter. Whether he was heading out to shop or just stopping somewhere for breakfast or lunch, Eddie found a way to remain active, social, and connected to the community he had come to call home.
Eddie lived a life centered around family, friendship, and taking care of the people he loved. Even when life became more difficult, he maintained his independence, his determination, and his desire to stay connected to those around him. His family will remember his strength, his love, his humor, and the countless everyday moments that made him Eddie. Most of all, they will remember the tremendous pride and joy he found in being “Papa” to Abigail, a title that meant more to him than any other. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave so freely will live on in the family he cherished.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Eddie’s life at a Mass held in his memory on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, what would have been his 78th birthday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clare Parish, 1244 Liberty Street, Braintree, MA 02184.
In Eddie’s memory, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in honor of his courageous journey with multiple sclerosis.
