

He was born on December 22, 1945 in Westfield, Massachusetts to the late Chester and Virginia (Holt) LaPlante. He grew up in Westfield Ma and retired to Largo, FL. Alan graduated from Westfield High School in 1963.
He worked at Smith & Wesson for 43 years. Alan was actively involved in American Legion Post 173 in Madeira Beach, Florida. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Wherever he was camping, he would also be fishing on his boat. Some of his favorite lakes were Lake Champlain, Forest Lake and Moosehead Lake to name a few. He was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Giants and a die hard Yankee fan. He was known to make a mean drink for all their friends at the Holiday Ranch in FL.
In addition to his parents, Alan is preceded in death by his brothers; Chester and William.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roberta (Bobbi) LaPlante, his daughter Debra (AJ) Bonsant of Stella, NC; granddaughter Amy (Jason) LaBonte of Chicopee, MA, and granddaughter Ashley (AJ) Crane of Chicopee, MA with six great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters; son David (Elizabeth) Cross of Agawam, MA, granddaughter Sarah Tourville of Westfield, MA and Mark Cross of Enfield, CT with 5 great-grandchildren; Dawn (Matt) LeBorgne of Southwick, MA, granddaughter Emmalina Toma and grandsons Peter and Ryan LeBorgne of Southwick MA. Daughter Carrie (Charlie) Moon of Westfield MA; son Travis Moon of Westfield, MA. Son Jason (Margaret) LaPlante of Port Orchard, Washington; grandson Gabe LaPlante and granddaughter Veronica LaPlante both of Port Orchard, WA. Alan is also survived by his sister, Betty Yefko of Westfield MA. Along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Baystate Hospice and his home caregivers Brie, Tamie and Paula for the care and compassion they showed Alan in his final days.
A celebration of Life will be held in the future. Date to be determined.
