Warren B Kessler

Warren Baxter Kessler passed away peacefully at his home in Grimes, Iowa on March 24th, 2026. He was born on April 12th, 1946 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Martin Phillip and Marie Caroline (Weber) Kessler.

Warren was raised in Southern Minnesota, graduating from Mankato State College in 1968 with a degree in Accounting and minor in Business Administration & Language Arts. He moved to the Des Moines area in 1969 to work at Bankers Life / The Principal Financial Group where he made many life-long friends before retiring in 2006 to enjoy more time with his family.

Warren was an exceptionally kind Husband, Father, Grandpa and Friend. His physical size paled in comparison to that of his heart. He filled that heart with love by proudly speaking of his children and grandchildren whenever possible. Nothing gave Warren more joy than attending his grandchildren’s events, often sitting in the cold/ pouring rain to cheer them on. He also enjoyed golfing with friends, watching the Iowa Hawkeye’s and listening to Elvis music with Jan.

Warren is survived by his wife, Janice of 30 years; Four children: Kimberly Gunn (Dennis), Ryan Kessler (Tami), Theresa Chivers, Angela Fontana (Mark); sister in-law: DeLores, nine Grandchildren and one Great Grandson. He will be re-united with his parents; siblings: Vernon, Lulu (Arnold), Dorise (Rudy), Donny, Denny (Rita); and son in-law: David.

Warren’s family wishes to thank the Hospice team at Hospice of the Midwest for their exceptional care.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 13th from noon until 2PM at The Tavern (1755 50th St West Des Moines, IA 50266).
