Sherri L. Cole, age 71, passed from this life on April 25th, 2026. She was born on July 30th, 1954 to Barbara Cole in Las Vegas, Nevada, and moved with her family to Des Moines, Iowa at an early age. She was a proud east-sider, attending East High School.
In her day, she was an avid and skilled golfer, enthusiastic softball player, energetic bicyclist, and, always, a dedicated Packers fan. In her downtime, she might be found at Johnny’s on Court Avenue or Applebee’s in Altoona.
She was charming, charismatic, and wickedly funny. She appreciated all kinds of music, graced many weddings with her beautiful singing voice, and could probably tell you the name of a song and the artist after hearing three notes.
And you could always be sure whatever she wore was carefully coordinated, down to her shoes and jewelry.
But she is best known for her infectious smile, her warm greetings and big hugs, her quick wit, and quicker comebacks. She was kind to all but had a special place in her heart for children and the elderly. She truly listened to and cared about others. Her Menards co-workers were her family.
Sherri was unapologetically… Sherri; she was unforgettable in the best way possible.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Cole, and Barbara’s husband, Robert Cole.
A celebration of life will take place at Grandview Park's open shelter on Friday, June 5th from 2 - 5pm. The address is 3230 Easton Blvd in Des Moines.
Go, Pack, Go!
