Born on August 25, 1931, in New Jersey, Bob grew up with a strong sense of community and leadership. In high school, he was an active student who played both baseball and football and served as class treasurer before graduating in 1949.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. Following his military service, he pursued higher education, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
In 1955, Bob married the love of his life, Winifred “Winnie,” beginning a remarkable 68-year marriage filled with partnership, adventure, and deep devotion.
Bob built a successful career as a manufacturing engineer, working for Warner Chilcott in New Jersey and later for Syntex in California after relocating in 1974. Alongside his professional life, he dedicated himself to service, volunteering as a fireman in White Meadow Lake, New Jersey, from 1964 to 1974.
After Winnie’s passing in 2023, Bob moved to Iowa to be closer to his family and to spend more time with them. He found a new home at Keystone Place, where he built meaningful friendships, embraced his new community, and enthusiastically participated in activities.
A man of deep faith, Bob was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and an active member and elder at Saratoga Presbyterian Church, where he gave his time and leadership to his community.
Bob had a gift for humor and a naturally positive outlook on life. He always seemed to have something fun or funny to say, bringing smiles and lightness to those around him.
In retirement, Bob and Winnie embraced travel, sharing a love of adventure that took them on 23 cruises together. At home, Bob found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including gardening, playing golf, reading mystery novels, researching interesting topics, and taking long walks.
Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of kindness, faith, humor, and quiet strength.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
