Robert Lynn Hemphill

Robert (Bob) Hemphill, 72, of Des Moines Iowa, passed away on December 6, 2024. He was born on May 8, 1952, to Elizabeth (Foster) and Lyle Hemphill. Bob grew up in the Quad cities and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa to raise his family. Bob loved going fishing and has fond memories of being on the river with his brothers Terry, Bill, and Barry. Bob cherished his sisters Sandy, Sharon, and Kathy and spent his final days reminiscing of all the great memories they have shared. Bob also loved golf and football, either playing golf with his friends or watching the Cowboys get beat on Sunday. Bob spent his final days at home with his two daughters fussing over him, he wasn’t a huge fan but accepted help with just a little fight. Our father was the strongest man we know and his advice for life was top tier and always proved successful. He will be greatly missed and as his final wish to all those that he loved is that “You cry at weddings and celebrate at a funeral” so please celebrate. We love you, Dad!

Those left to remember Bob are his children Michael Hemphill, Marlena Hemphill, and Melissa Hemphill. His Sister Kathy Stout and his brother Barry Hemphill. His grandchildren Bridget, Kaydance, Mekinzie, Trinity, Derek, Taiylor, Coby, Ariana, Braxton, and Orion. And a great grandchild Oliver and one on the way. Bob also had several nieces and nephews all of whom he loved very much.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Lyle Hemphill, his brothers Terry Hemphill and William (Bill) Hemphill, and his sisters Sandy Draper and Sharon Hemphill.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
