Richard Lee Hall

Richard Lee Hall, 84, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away Friday, March 14, 2025. Richard was born February 26, 1941, in Liberal, Kansas to Edward Hall and Mildred Howard. Richard graduated from Greensburg High School in 1959 and then spent 21 years in the United States Navy before retiring from his position with an honorable discharge. Richard was united in marriage to Catherine Sue Fredregill on September 24, 2011, in Callaway, Maryland.

Richard loved sports his entire life, he played football and basketball at Greensburg High School, back when they used leather helmets; and played flag football during his time in the United States Navy. He loved watching basketball at the local college with his granddaughter, Rachel. When he wasn’t watching in person, he was watching sports on TV; Rich and his sister, BettyJo would talk about the games while watching from each of their respected homes. He also loved spending time in the garden with his wife, Cathy.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Willene Hall; siblings, Jane Schmidt, David Howard, Donnie Howard and Beverly Penny; his son, David Hall and grandson Austin Harris.

Richard is survived by his wife, Cathy Fredregill; son, Bryon Hall (Terri) and daughter, Shannon Evans (Rob); grandchildren: Josh Hall (Danielle), Jeremy Hall (Nicole), Rachael Stine (Jake) and Luke Evans; great-grandchildren Noah Hall, Jackson Hall, Aiden Hall, Isabella Hall and baby boy Stine.

A burial with military honors will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery on March 26th at 2PM.
