Randy attended Southeastern University and dedicated many years of service to the State of Iowa before retiring. He was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Fugett on July 1, 1989, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Randy had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed computers, music—both playing and listening—photography, and recreational shooting. He especially loved his service dog, Talbot, listening to audiobooks, studying the Bible, and being active in his church. He also enjoyed relaxing while watching his favorite sitcoms. Randy took great pride in his marriage to Nancy and, most importantly, in his personal faith and religious journey.
Throughout his life, Randy owned and operated his own business for over two years and spent 11 years working with the elderly in a nursing home setting. His favorite color was red, and he especially enjoyed the many family trips to Arkansas, creating memories he treasured.
Randy is survived by his nieces, Melissa (Brian) Steinsultz of Clarksville, Tennessee; Melanie Blacksmith of Clarksville, Tennessee; Mindy (Rocky) Rhodes of Des Moines; and John (Angie) Anderson and Beth (Justin) Anderson-White; as well as his sister-in-law, Joanne Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Ann Anderson; his parents, Mary Gene and Louis James Anderson; his sister, Vicky Lou Hacker; and his brothers, Gary Lee Anderson and William Carl Anderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Des Moines Vineyard Church, 2332 Euclid Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50310.
Randy will be remembered for his faith, the love he had for his family, and the many interests and experiences that made his life uniquely his own.
