Nancy Louise Wolters was born in Hays, KS on October 30, 1934, the fifth child of eight; to Ruth Margaret Severin Wolters and Aloysius Lawrence Wolters. After the death of her mother the family settled in Junction City, KS where Nancy finished her school years. She attended college at Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, KS, where she entered the Benedictine Convent in 1953. She taught in Catholic Schools throughout Kansas and Colorado.
In 1964, Nancy was part of a group of Benedictine nuns sent from Atchison to Colorado Springs to form a new motherhouse later known as Benet Hill Monastery. Nancy taught elementary education in Colorado as well as attaining her BA Degree from Regis College in 1969. She went on to get her Masters Degree in Social Work from Denver University in 1975. For the next 3 years Nancy worked as a caseworker, as well as being the Sub-Prioress at Benet Hill Priory.
Nancy left Benet Hill in 1978. She worked at Silver Key Senior Services in Colorado Springs for 17 years progressing from case manager to Assistant to the Executive Director.
Nancy worked for 7 years at Pikes Peak Mental Health Center as coordinator and lead case manager for the home and community based services for the mentally ill.
Nancy finished her social work career with Brookside Assisted Living where she served as Assistant Administrator for 11 years. She retired in 2013.
Throughout all the years Nancy stayed close to her Church, the Sisters of Benet Hill Monastery, her friends and family.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Carol Sue Neutzling of Ankeny, IA and many wonderful nephews, nieces and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius L. Wolters and Ruth M. (Severin) Wolters, her brothers, Frank A. Wolters and Theresa (Brice) Wolters, Thomas E. Wolters and Joyce M. Wolters; her sisters, Mary Ruth Leonard, Norma Jean Wynn & Robert J. Wynn, Patricia A. Melching; as well as her great-grand nephews, Brice Wolters and Benjamin J. Brummel. May they all rest in peace.
