Michael John Jaworski, 66, of Adel, passed away peacefully at home with his dog, Clyde, ever faithful by his side on March 11, 2025. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa. on February 22, 1959, to Walter and Doris (Seymour) Jaworski.
Mike graduated from Valley High School. He attended the Kansas City School of Watchmaking and later pursued a career that showcased his diverse talents. He worked as a watchmaker at his family’s business Walt’s Jewelry, later DJ Walt’s Arts & Gems. After the store closed, Mike worked as a millwright at Pioneer; started his own family business, Mike’s Tip Top Tree Service and later worked at Hubbell Realty as a property engineer and a helping hand and presence at the Metcalf family’s farm. His hardworking nature and skill at fixing things made an impact in every role he took on and left an indelible mark on those around him.
On November 15, 1986, Mike married Christy Surber, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Amanda. Though Mike and Christy later divorced in 2012, they remained close friends. Mike became a grandfather to Amanda and her husband Jeff’s three little boys all of whom sport the same ornery grin that sometimes got Mike into trouble. Being a grandpa was the role he loved most.
Mike made friends effortlessly. He was a man with a generous heart, always willing to lend a hand and help those in need. His kindness and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mike loved the great outdoors and animals. He was always donning his signature camouflage fashion. He loved to boat, fish and hunt. One of Mike’s fondest traditions was the annual family trip to Minnesota, where he would spend the week fishing on the lake with his loved ones; creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Jeff) Reynolds; his cherished grandsons, Jordan, William, and Emerson; his mother, Doris Jaworski, brothers David, Rick (Kellie), Jamie (Margaret) and sister Julie (Kurt) Hiatt; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved longtime girlfriend, Cindy Buckroyd; her daughter Candice (Dusty) Thompson, along with grandchildren Hunter, Beau, and Bree; and loyal dog (Clyde Rambo). He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jaworski, infant sister Denise Jaworski and sister Janis McKinney.
Mike’s legacy of kindness and generosity will live on through his family and the many lives he touched. A celebration of Mike’s life will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday March 29th 2025 in the Giovannetti Community Shelter in Walker Johnston Park in Urbandale.
