Maryella Davis, 91, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, just one day after celebrating her 91st birthday. Her family finds comfort in imagining her reunited with the love of her life, Tom Davis, dancing together again.
Maryella was married to her husband, Tom, for 54 years until his passing. Their love story began in the most unexpected way—on a Greyhound bus, where Tom was the driver and Maryella was traveling between the city and her family’s farm. It was the start of a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
She was a proud mother to Debbie (Jeff), George (Waneoka), and Roxanne, and was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and her daughter, Roxanne. Her legacy continues through her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Maryella was truly one of a kind—a classy woman with a signature style. She was known for her shiny Cadillacs and her iconic red beehive hair, which remained as vibrant as her spirit. She lived life on her own terms—frugal in many ways, yet unafraid to splurge on the things that brought her joy, like beautiful art and elegant fur coats.
She was an incredible gardener who took great pride in her rose bushes and flower gardens. Her backyard, which backed up to Haines Park, was her sanctuary—where she also made sure her beloved squirrels were always well-fed.
Maryella cherished tradition and family. Holidays at her home were something special, complete with fine china, gold crystal goblets, and the honor of sitting at the “grown-up table.” She created moments that will be remembered for generations.
She loved dancing—especially her Tuesdays at Prairie Meadows—and her family smiles at the thought of her back on the dance floor once more.
In her final months, Maryella remained strong, independent, and full of wit. She lived on her own until just a few weeks before her passing, determined as ever.
The time spent with her in recent months was a true gift—filled with simple moments like coloring her bright red hair, sharing laughter, and trying (unsuccessfully) to get her to gain a little weight.
Maryella Davis was elegant, strong, and unforgettable. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and timeless style. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
