Lisa Ashley

Lisa Luanne Ashley, 61, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. Lisa was born on October 6, 1963, to David and Betty (Shafer) Ashley in Des Moines. She graduated from Saydel High School in 1982 and attended St Paul Bible College in Minnesota. Lisa earned a double bachelor’s degree in journalism and secondary education.

Lisa worked for many years as a teacher at South Texas Independent Schools. She enjoyed reading, games, bowling and her many pets.

She will be missed by her sisters: Sherry (Jess) Hicks and Lori Vanbuskirk of Des Moines; nieces and nephews: Amanda (Cristal) of Vancouver, WA, Theo (Abby) of Des Moines, Olivia (Hallie) of Waukee, IA and Dalton of Des Moines, along with her great nieces, Amelia and Maren of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Lisa will take place at later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in her name.
