Larry Dean Hoskinson

Larry Dean Hoskinson, 84, passed away on November 24, 2025, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Larry was born August 8, 1941, in Woodward, Iowa to Ernest and Julie (O’Neill) Hoskinson. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1966. Larry was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Danielson on January 13, 1962, in Orlando, Florida. Larry retired in 2001 from the Iowa Lottery. In his retirement he worked part time for Toyota of Des Moines.

Larry loved all animals, especially his dog and cat; he enjoyed watching his favorite tv show, Gunsmoke and liked old cars. He especially loved spending time with his family and watching his grands.

Larry is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Sharon; 3 sons: Jeff (Kara Martin) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kent (Brigitte Bollie) of Madrid, IA and Brett (Lynette) of Cedar Rapids; 2 granddaughters: Brooke (Jeff) Zoltowski of The Colony, Texas and Brittany (Anthony) Tedesco of Grinnell, IA; 5 great grandchildren: Mason Zoltowski of Ames, IA, Alivia and Zophia Zoltowski of The Colony, TX; AJ Tedesco of Grinnell, IA and Vincent Tedesco of Grinnell, IA. He will also be missed by his two beloved pets, TC and Danny. Larry is preceded in death by his parents as well as 6 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the nurses and physicians at MercyOne and Iowa Heart Center for the kind and compassionate care given to Larry. Per Larry's wishes there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
