Joseph Lynn Henson

Joe was born on July 29, 1972, to LaVern and Cheri Henson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. After graduating from high school in Carroll, IA in 1990, he studied electrical technology at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA.

Joe was married to Nicki Tigges and they welcomed two children, Alex and Katie.

Joe was later then engaged to Shari Shearon, and gained three bonus children, TJ, Austin and Brinley.

Joe gave it all in every aspect of his life. His outgoing nature drew people to him and created bonds that lasted a lifetime. Joe loved going to his son, Alex’s hockey games over the years. His daughter, Katie, loves horses and Joe faithfully followed her to watch her barrel race. Joe loved to go boating. His love for boating and the water started as a child, skiing and boating with is family on Black Hawk Lake in Lake View, IA. He loved camping, traveling and going on new adventures.

He ended his time on Earth as a fighter until his final breath. He fought valiantly, refusing to let cancer define him.

Survivors include his children: Alex Henson (Nicole Quang) and grandson Luca; daughter Katie Henson (Chantz Finley); fiancé, Shari and her children: TJ, Austin and Brinley; he is further survived by his mother, Cheri (Heuton) Henson; brother, Cory Henson and niece Corynne, along with many other relatives.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, LaVern Henson and cousins, David Wenck, Ryan Heuton and Jeff Henson.

A celebration of life for Joseph will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
