John was a resident of Elmhurst for 28 years. He was born in 1962 to Joseph and Sophie Hines. He was the youngest of their 7 children. The Hines family were parishioners at St. Charles Borromeo Church. John attended Crestview grade school and York high school. John was very friendly, funny, and interested in people. He loved to hear their stories and tell a few of his own. He was kind and loved pets, especially Snoopy and Tiger (his dog and cat). He made long time friends in Elmhurst and had many cherished memories of them and family. During these years John would caddy at a nearby course where he developed a love for golf. John worked many years for Hines Excavating. On days off he would build model trains and play the guitar. He loved learning about music and jamming with friends and family. He became a good guitarist and even played at local events. He left the family business and moved further west. More recently he worked for a trucking company in Clinton. He bought a house there and enjoyed visiting the many relatives in the area. He now had more time for relaxing and fishing sometimes with his brothers.
We all share fond memories of John. We will miss his stories, jokes, and laughter.
