Jeffrey Clare

Jeffrey Dean Clare, 61, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at Westview of Indianola Care Center. He was born June 9, 1963, in Des Moines, Iowa to Harvey and Ruth (Loftsgard) Clare. Jeff graduated from Lincoln High School in 1981, and attended Vatterott College in Des Moines, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. He worked many years in security at Nationwide.

Jeff enjoyed learning about history, going on hikes and spending time outside with his dog, Teddy. He also loved collecting teddy bears. He was very silly and when asked if he needed anything he would always say “a million dollars.”

He is survived by his sisters: Cynthia Gale (Michael) and Cheri Burrell (Philip) along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and cousins. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Harvey Clare; stepfather, Ernie Fiscus; all grandparents Arthur & Connie Loftsgard and AQ & Ethel Clare and his dog, Teddy.

The family wants to thank Westview Care Center and Suncrest Hospice for loving Jeff as much as they do.

There will be a private visitation and graveside service with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Memorial donations may be directed to Westview Care Center or Suncrest Hospice.
