Cathy Marie Stephen

Cathy Marie Stephen, 75, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Taylor House Hospice. At her request Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ (3225 E. Douglas Ave Des Moines, IA 50317).

Cathy was born January 12, 1949. She was the first born daughter of Rosalie Joyce Current and David Wayne Current. She was raised in the Des Moines area where she attended and graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1966.

Cathy retired from American Can after 40 years of dedicated hard work and perseverance. She was a resilient, strong, dedicated, caring and loving mother and grandmother who was always there for everyone and anyone who needed anything. Cathy was a single mom of five children, she always put herself last with her primary focus and love being dedicated to her children, leaving no doubts ever that they were loved and cherished.

She is survived by her children: Jamie, Joseph, Jeremy, Brandy and Nathan Stephen; grandchildren: Tiffany Deaton, Erica Jarnagin, Brittany Giefer, Daniel Hollingsworth, Miranda Stephen, Tori Stephen, Kelsey Stephen, Alexis Dutenhoeffer, Jordyn Stephen and Tristan Stephen; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings: Tom Current, Vickie Brooks, Cindy Gatch, Deborah McEnroy and Michael Current; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends are left to cherish loving memories of her life and the love she gave.

Sunny Skies

All sunny skies would be too bright,

All morning hours mean too much light,
