Sinclair Yip (Sy, Mr. Yip, Uncle Sun, Dad, Gung Gung) passed away November 16, 2024, at his home in Monterey Park CA. Born in Los Angeles May 29, 1924, he was the fourth of five children of Grace and Homer Yip. Sinclair was a Chinese American who proudly served as a US naval officer during WWII and the Korean War. He later became a beloved elementary school teacher during his 25+ years in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Sinclair married Mary Dora Quon, sharing 75 years together and three daughters, and was a loving Gung Gung to five grand-children and two great grand-children.  Summers were spent traveling cross-country by automobile, and in retirement, Europe by cruise ship. Sinclair enjoyed sharing his early Hollywood remembrances, including how he portrayed Charlie Chan’s son in the 1938 production of “Charlie Chan in Honolulu.” He lived a full and adventurous life and will be remembered for his wit, independence, generosity and love for life. He is deeply missed.
