

Marian Julia Shaffer, age 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born in Los Angeles, California, on October 26, 1926, Marian lived a long and remarkable life filled with kindness, creativity, friendship, and adventure.
She was the beloved daughter of Howard Hilborn and Malvina Filsinger and was proud of her California roots throughout her life. As a child, Marian read Richard Halliburton’s books on travel and dreamed of seeing the world. She fulfilled that dream many times over as an avid world traveler and through a career as a travel agent that spanned more than 30 years.
Marian was the loving mother of seven children. She was predeceased by two of her children, Sandra Shaffer and David Shaffer. She is survived by five children: William Shaffer, Richard Shaffer, Paul Shaffer, Robert Shaffer, and Karen Shaffer. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Hilborn, age 98, along with 12 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. While she was raising her children in the 1960’s, she was also a successful Tupperware representative and then promoted to manager, earning a car, She attended Tupperware team reunions until 2024.
Marian remained active and engaged well into her later years. She was a longtime member of Songmakers, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her love of music and fellowship. Remarkably, she continued attending gatherings and tent camping trips with the group until she was 96 years old, inspiring everyone around her with her energy and adventurous spirit.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and lovingly remembered for the joy, wisdom, warmth, and grace she brought to every stage of her life.
