Lynn was born in 1941 and raised in Thief River Falls, Minn, a small town 70 miles south of the Canadian border. He graduated from Lincoln High School, where he was active in sports- excelling in football and basketball. He earned the nickname “Swivel Hips” in football as he would slip past the other players before they realized it! After school, Lynn worked at the Hartz Grocery Warehouse. It was during these high school years that Lynn met Marie.
Lynn went on to attend the University of South Dakota, where he majored in Civil Engineering. It was in his senior year that Lynn and Marie married. They would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this March.
Lynn had job interviews in Texas, Washington and California and chose to go with California. He worked for LA County Public Works in the Road Department until he retired at the age of 55. He then took on the role as consultant and became Program Director for the Rubberized Asphalt Concrete Technology Center. He did this for 5 years. Lynn also taught evening courses in Civil Engineering at Citrus College.
Lynn enjoyed taking his family camping and purchased a small, rustic cabin that included its very own outhouse in Fawnskin. Later, for their 20th Anniversary, they purchased a parcel of land and spent the next 5 years of weekends and vacations building a much larger, more modernized cabin with 2 whole bathrooms!
Hobbies included bicycle riding with groups, with family or solo, the guitar, the harmonica and carving. He was also the family handyman. It seemed he could fix or build almost anything and loved working on projects his kids or grandkids would dream up.
The family belonged to Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Lynn and Marie were very much involved in both the church and the school over the years.
Lynn was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Lynn's was a life well lived.
