In the second week of this new year, I got the horrible and devastating news that my dear friend Katy Loftus had passed away the evening of January 9. I was numb. Katy was fighting a rare form of leukemia but was home recovering, feeling optimistic and we even had plans to have breakfast that weekend. I'm still numb. 
Katy and I have been friends for 30+ years, having lived in the Manitoba West condominiums at the same time. Katy was much more to me and my family than a good friend...she was my dog walking buddy, my running buddy, my paddle tennis partner, my margarita señorita, the 'Auntie' to my two boys to this day, my Farmer's Market companion, and my fierce, independent and loving family friend. My life has been richer because of her! I ❤️ and miss her SO. 
My deepest condolences to her brothers Kevin and Terry.
