Ernesto Munoz passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones after battling cancer for over 2 years with courage and dignity. Known as Ernie to most, he was born on March 3rd,1945, in Whittier, CA. Raised by immigrant parents, Jesus Munoz and Carmen Cisneros Munoz, Ernie grew up in Santa Fe Springs, CA, in the area known as Los Nietos and graduated from Pioneer High School. At the age of 19, he was drafted into the army to serve his country in the Vietnam War. After returning home, he continued his studies. During college, he discovered his love for golf and worked for various companies such as Coca Cola, Kmart, and worked as an upholsterer. Ultimately, he began his career in the telecommunications industry for Pacific Bell. At the beginning of his career with Pacific Bell, he raised a family with his former spouse Gloria Munoz with whom he had two children, Roland and Nicole. He thrived in his career, starting out as a Staff Associate and moved on as a Testing Technician, working his way up into management as a Training Supervisor and retiring as a Network Operations Manager/Supervisor at 177 in Pasadena. Ernie’s dedication to family and work will be remembered.
In 2010, Ernie retired from AT&T/Pacific Bell with more than 30 years of service. In retirement, he became Mr. Mom, as he would jokingly call himself, devoting his life to his youngest daughter Madison, and his wife Victoria. Being a part of the Holy Name of Mary community, he built many memorable friendships. He created many fun memories with his grandson Dylan and spent time with his grandchildren Michael and Charles enthusiastically attending their soccer, baseball, and football games, being their biggest fan. He never missed a beat with golf still playing numerous tournaments with his golf buddies. And for fun, he was known to impress with his left, back handed golf swing. Ernie will be remembered for his gregarious laugh, outspoken viewpoints, competitive nature, and an awesome golf player. Any sport or game that required tenacity or competition, Ernie was up for the challenge. Notably, Ernie will be remembered for the great love he had for his family. He will be forever loved and missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Munoz, and their daughter, Madison Munoz. Ernie was preceded in death by his son, Roland Munoz and survived by his grandson, Dylan Munoz. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole (Munoz) Giles, son in law, Mike, and grandchildren, Jeremy, Cady, Michael, and Charles. Ernie is also survived by his sister, Grace Munoz, brother, Angel Munoz, and nieces and nephews.
