Carl William Blank III

Devoted Son, Husband, Father, and Grandfather.

We are sad to announce the passing of Carl William Blank III. Carl passed away peacefully at the age of sixty-six on July 28, 2023, in Pomona, California. Carl was a caring man who loved his family, an entrepreneur and Master Craftsman who loved working and finding the beauty in others and a great appreciation of art.

In his younger years he owned a valet business in Los Angeles and worked for KTLA Channel 5 (as set security). As Carl’s love for craftsmanship grew in his later years, he owned 4 X 8 Benchmark where he built beautiful furniture and fixtures for retail stores and restaurants. Carl was widely regarded for his craftsmanship and featured on the cover of Cabinet Maker magazine for his renowned work. Ever the student, in 2012 he went back to school and graduated from Citrus College with a degree in Public Works Administration and went on to be the Public Works Inspector for the City of Manhattan Beach, CA. Carl loved working at the City of Manhattan Beach, and he knew every dog by name and was well respected for his work ethic and his kind way with others.

A funeral mass will be held November 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM at American Martyrs Church, 1431 Deegan Place – Manhattan Beach, California 90266 with a reception following.

Survived by his wife (Doreen Blank), his two children Carl Phillip Blank and Auguste Velasco, his four Grandchildren, Leilani, Eli, Nicholas, and David. His parents Carl William Blank II, Fe Frances Christina Mattes, Trudie Blank, His two sisters Anna Michael, and Candi Tan.
