It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia "Patty" Gish, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Patty passed away peacefully at her home in Westerville, Ohio, on December 29, 2024, at the age of 77.
Born to Allan J. and Annabelle R. Broadhurst, Patty spent her early years in Dover, Ohio, before her family relocated to Rittman, Ohio, during her teenage years. It was in Rittman that she met and eventually married her beloved husband, David, with whom she shared nearly 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, enduring friendships, and treasured memories.
After a period of military service in the early 1970s, Patty and David returned to Rittman, where they established their home and raised their two children. Patty pursued a career in educational and medical settings, where she worked alongside many kind and compassionate individuals who became lifelong friends.
Patty was the proud and loving mother of Kristen (Kevin) Frederick and Mark (Misty) Gish, and a devoted grandmother to Mya, Macey, Tyler, and Nathan. She also leaves behind her brother, David (Debbie) Broadhurst, nieces Kimberly, Stacy, and Kelly Jo, and her nephew, Seth. Patty created many cherished memories with her children, nieces and nephew during summers and holiday breaks, whether helping the younger children win backyard games or celebrating New Year’s Eve by joyously banging pots and pans at midnight.
Patty was the heart of her family, offering unwavering love and strength. She found her greatest joy in nurturing and encouraging her loved ones, always celebrating life’s moments with them. Her acts of kindness extended beyond her family, as she frequently shared personal cards with heartfelt messages or simple gifts like flower seeds, symbolizing hope and friendship.
A private interment will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date, followed by a Celebration of Life dinner. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Patty’s honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
