In addition to his love of dogs, he was a lifelong car enthusiast, skier, scuba diver and devout 49er Faithful.
In his final years, Martin moved to Cincinnati, OH with his wife to be closer to his beloved grandchildren who were adoring caregivers.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda Kay Messinger (nee Temple), his two children - Shelley Reddy and Kent Messinger, and three grandchildren - Reily Reddy (Ellie), James Reddy and Emily Hacker (Klayton), who will remember him for his unwavering support and love.
