Eric Anthony Young of West Chester, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the age of 90 years. He was born on January 26, 1935 in Lexington, Kentucky, moving several times until the family settled in Perkinsville, Vermont where he grew up working the family poultry farm.
We were always impressed and inspired by his tenacity, his resilience and his commitment and dedication to family. As a mentor and guide to his family through the years, known affectionately as Gpa’E to his grandchildren, he would often share his knowledge through stories, enlightening and teaching. He enjoyed reading, history, poetry and all the arts. Eric truly exemplified the meaning behind lifelong learner, in learning as much as h could about the world. Traveling to over 50 countries across 4 continents and enjoyed several cruises in various parts of the world with his family. He loved to sail, was a woodcarver, photographer and became quite an avid writer in his final years. Eric’s career with General Electric took him through Lynne, MA to Cincinnati, OH where he worked until his retirement as a Mechanical Engineer. Life led him to Houston, TX where for over a decade he was a docent at the Houston Maritime Museum sharing his love of boat craft, maritime history and giving slide show presentations on different parts of the world and the rise of Harris County, TX. He was actively involved in the Unity Church with Garden Park Unity in Cincinnati, Ohio and in later years the Unity Church of Houston, Texas.
