

Dwight was born in New Castle, Indiana on April 6, 1941. He was the son of the late Robert William and Odessa Juanita (McBride) Lockridge. Dwight grew up in Spiceland and was a long-time resident of New Castle. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army, worked 7 years for Chrysler Corporation in New Castle, and worked construction until an injury left him disabled in 1994. Dwight enjoyed fishing, sports, cooking, and was an active member of the American Legion.
Dwight is survived by his daughters, Robin E. Chester, Kimberly M. (Clinton) Greene, Tiffany L. (Tony) Roach, and Tasha N. Lockridge; a brother, Vernon (Kris) Lockridge; nine grandchildren, Erica Tompkins, Ashley Weeks, Rease (Caitlin) Morelock, Samuel Morelock, Joshua Greene, Donja Hayes, Dakota Roach, Dylan Roach, and Aiden Digby; and six great-grandchildren, Oliver Tompkins, Roamyn Grant, Wyatt Hayes, Faith Hayes, Matai Morelock, and Nova Morelock; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther (Skeeter) J. (Lawson) Lockridge, life partner of 30 years Rose M. Lee, sister Kathy Rector, and grandson Austin A. Roach.
A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held at the American Legion in New Castle Sunday, September 8, 2019, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests any memorials be made to the Dementia Society of America in Dwight’s memory at dementiasociety.org or to the American Legion scholarship fund.
