Laura Louise Jennings-McMahon passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, in Walnut Creek, California due to complications from a traumatic brain injury. Born in San Diego, California, Laura lived a life centered on love for her family, an appreciation for life’s simple joys, and an enduring spirit of independence.
Family was at the heart of Laura's life. She found great joy in everyday moments, whether enjoying a movie with popcorn or going out just for ice cream. A talented cook and baker, she delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones. Her Thanksgiving feasts were cherished traditions that brought family and friends together, and her Christmas gatherings radiated warmth and generosity.
Laura treasured time spent with her family. She never missed cheering on her children at their sporting events and often created opportunities to bond over simple errands or shared adventures. She loved her trips to Borrego Springs and Catalina Island with her family.
Beyond her devotion to family, Laura had a passion for helping others. Whether running errands for neighbors or offering a listening ear to friends in need, she found fulfillment in supporting those around her. Her dedication extended into the community as well; she served on the board of Walnut Creek Little League for over eight years. During this time, she supported both baseball and softball programs while coaching her daughter for many seasons. Laura especially enjoyed managing the snack shack and connecting with players and their families.
Laura is survived by her devoted husband, Eric McMahon; her beloved children: Kelly Jean, Dylan Shea, and Jack Harris; and her siblings: Bradley Romaine (Jackie), Teresa Romaine (Joan), Netty Jennings (Lee), and David Burnett (Robin); and her nephew Bradley Wayne Romaine and niece Cindy Kay Romaine. Laura was predeceased by her parents, Gladys Virginia Jennings and Harry John Jennings, as well as her brother Dwane Romaine.
Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and finding beauty in both extraordinary moments and the simplicity of everyday life. May Laura’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church, 55 Eckley Lane, Walnut Creek, CA, on September 18, 2026, at 11:00 am
