Stu was born on August 15, 1942 in Oxford, Massachusetts to Esther and Stuart J. Carson. After graduating from High School he joined the United States Navy (USN) as an Aviation Ordnanceman where he spent the next 26 years heroically serving our country. He was a true American patriot proud of his military service, having served in the Vietnam War and on the USS Forrestal, Nimitz, and Coral Sea.
His hobbies included trains, building model airplanes and ships, and the daily crossword puzzle. He was an avid gardener and history buff.
Stu was predeceased by Cheryl J. Carson and their son, Stuart "Buddy" Carson Jr. He is survived by his spouse of 35 years, Patsy Stokes, the love of his life; his brother, Ian Carson; his children, Melissa Carson (Terry) and Lori Gilkinson (Raleigh); and his grandchildren, Zach, John, Cheryl, Susan, Kyleigh, Kayla, Christopher, Dylan, Lily, Emmaleigh, JJ, Devyn, Hannah, and Olivia.
Services will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 392, 2408 Bowland Parkway, at 1400 on April 20, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VFW Post or the Fisher House, two organizations Stu felt strongly about and supported.
