Richard fondly known as Rick was born to Peter and Bernice Kriss on December 8, 1946, in McKeesport Pennsylvania. Rick was a creative forward-thinking artist with a meticulous eye to detail which served him well in professional life and personal life.
Rick began working with his father as a woodworker at his kitchen shop Kriss Kraft Cabinets. Then Rick studied mechanical drafting and design. He became an instructor at the Triangle School of Drafting. Rick also went to work at Westinghouse Electric Company as a Mechanical and piping draftsman. After Rick worked for Westinghouse, He enlisted in the Army Reserves. He proudly served his country as a military Policeman from 1966-1972.
After Rick served his county, he began his over 30-year career in the automotive restoration industry. He studied and researched honing his craft. He specialized in 1930’s Lincoln projects. Rick participated in various car clubs and car shows. His restorations for clients received many accolades and awards. Rick was known for the car restoration of the 1939 Bugatti Type 57C. The car resides at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California with other unique cars from around the world.
In his personal life, Rick enjoyed many hobbies. He enjoyed going to live music events, dancing with his wife, collecting trains and antiques, going to the beach, and gathering with friends. In recent years, Rick loved spending time with granddaughter Emma.
Rick is preceded in death by both parents, his wife Nancy (Grabb) Kriss, and his niece Holly Morcheid. He is survived by his daughter Kelly (Gregory) Garyarski, granddaughter Emma Gayarski, brother Terry (Diane) Kriss, Lauren (Kriss) Morcheid, his nieces Kristen Morcheid and Kathleen Morcheid and their children Jayden, Alex, Ryan, Brynna, and Jordan.
A celebration of life for Rick will take place at a later date.
