Philip Wayne Beasley Sr., Age 76, of Williamsburg Virginia, formerly of Pitman, New Jersey, and Prospect Park Pennsylvania, passed into paradise on February 4th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born to Marion Otis and Sarah (nee Rosso) Beasley in Darby, Pennsylvania, on February 18th, 1946.
Phil graduated from Interboro High School in 1964 and attended Widener University, where he took classes in drafting and engineering. After graduation, Phil joined the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Steamfitters Local 420 in Philadelphia for over 50 years and the American Legion since 1997. He served on the USS Barton DD-722 and was a member of the National Association of Destroyer Veterans (Tin Can Sailors).
Phil was an avid fly fisherman, active in conservation. He annually led his sons in the pursuit of fly fishing in the fraternal organization of The Brotherhood of the Junglecock. He enjoyed camping with his family for 35 years. He led an annual team of cyclists, proudly raising thousands of dollars for the MS 150. A member of The Mid-Atlantic clown Association, Phil was also known as Banjo the Clown for 18 years, alongside his wife, juggling, stilt walking, and mastering magic. Other hobbies included woodworking, historic home restoration, cooking delicious meals for his family, and civil war history.
After retirement, Phil became a school bus driver for Walts Bus Company and later B.R. Williams.
He was proud of his great uncle Vincent Serio, who designed and built the racing sailboat Hampton 1, on display at the Mariners Museums, Newport News, Virginia.
Phil is survived by brothers Edwin (Diana), James (Marilyn) and honorary brother-in-arms and lifelong friend Earl Flack. He is predeceased by his older brother George (Madeline). He is also survived by his loving wife of 40 years Deborah (nee Ferranti), and his beautiful children, Phil Jr. (Melanie), Nichole (Edward), Julia, Melanie (Dennis), Marcellus (April), Michaela, and Hannah, who loved him dearly.
His loving legacy lives on in his cherished grandchildren, Noël, Breanna, Gianna, Michael, Isabella, Hailey, Brenden, Brayden, Logan, Emitt, Evalyn, and Violet.
Celebration of Life to be held on March 19th, 2023, from 1-4 pm at 800 N Blackhorse Pike Williamstown New Jersey, 08094.
A Second Celebration of Life will be held in Williamsburg Virginia; on April 30th, 2023, at 100 Christopher Ln, 23185. Military honors are at 9:45 am, brunch from 10 am until 12 am, and the family has arranged a memorial sailing aboard the American Rover in Norfolk Virginia, 333 Waterside Dr Norfolk 23510. Boarding is 1:45pm, and celebration is from 2-4 pm. All are welcome and appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Matthews Miracles 333.
