Nancy was an artistic soul, able to bring life to anything she set her sights on. She had a knack for creating, sewing, planting, treasure hunting and finding beauty in things that others failed to notice.
She had a sense of humor that made even a stranger giggle. A little bit of crude sarcasm could go a long way.
Nancy and her husband, Elijah, were always up to something, always traveling and spending time with friends. The family may not have thought of her as a photographer, but she loved to take photos and almost every photo that we have from her has a date and name. She documented almost everything, and that is not something we take for granted. Nancy loved to cut cute little funnies out of the newspaper too, giving that sweet, personal touch to all of the gifts and cards she gave on holidays.
Nancy would whip around the kitchen in her day. She was an incredible cook. All the grandchildren would probably agree that her fudge was absolutely delectable (amongst many of the other family favorites). The big family meals we’d have every holiday hold precious memories for us all.
There were so many gatherings at the house where she and Elijah lived on Whetstone Drive; family football games outside in the front yard, strolls around Whetstone Lake, and spending quality time on the porch outside.
Nancy had her eclectic collections, one of the prominent ones being her love for roosters and hens. She loved cute, little things. She also collected Hummels and decor that reminded her of her beloved cats: Manfred and Rose.
She cherished all the fur babies that were in her life, including Jackie and the Richmond’s family dog, Rocky. You could catch her snuggling him in her favorite chair trying to get a nibble on his ear.
Her love was open and expressive. She would look you in the eyes and tell you she loved you. She would even nibble on your ears probably if you let her.
Nancy loved her family and friends dearly and deeply. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her legacy lives on in the many sweet memories we hold dear to our hearts and in one (or many) of the little trinkets we’ve inherited.
Nancy leaves behind her children: Beth Wilkerson, Kim Richmond, Bill Wilkerson, and Jeff Wilkerson and her beloved grandchildren: David Guthrie, Jon Guthrie, Mary Guthrie, Vance Richmond, Eleni Richmond, and Taylor Richmond, and her many great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Wilkerson and her parents, Mary Elizabeth Moser and Jefferson Lee Moser.
