Michael was a devoted father, a proud American, and a man of quiet but steadfast faith. He loved his country, his God, and above all, his daughter Mychael, wo was the purpose and joy of his life.
Born into a family that knew the value of hard work and loyalty, Michael carried those values into everything he did. He served others for 10 years as a paramedic with Dare County EMS, providing care, calm, and compassion in people's most difficult moments. Later, he worked as a jet mechanic in the Civil Service at Naval Air Station Oceana, taking pride in supporting the men and women who serve.
Outside of work, Michael felt most at home outdoors and in the kitchen. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially around the waters and woods of coastal Virginia and North Carolina. He was also an excellent cook -- his pot roast in particular will be long remembered by those lucky enough to sit at his table.
Michael is survived by his beloved daughter, Mychael E. Bucy, 27, and his brother, Geoffrey T. Bucy. He is predeceased by his sister, Judy Ann (Bucy) Carroll; his mother, Joan Bucy; his grandmother, Martha Russell; and his father, John Thomas Bucy.
In keeping with his love of the water and the place he called home, Michael will be buried at sea in the Chesapeake Bay in a private ceremony Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, his stories, his cooking, and the deep love he had for his family. His life was not without struggle, but he met it with resilience and heart -- and those who loved him will carry his memory forward with gratitude and affection.
