Judy Nichols Loy

Judy Catherine Nichols Loy, 83, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on Sunday, February 16th, 2025. She was born on January 1st, in Luray, VA. Judy is survived by her daughter Donna Fike of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Katie Fike of Blacksburg, Sarah Fike and David Fike of Virginia Beach; sisters, Wanda Spitzer, Susan Sutton(Brent); brother, Larry Nichols (Gloria Ann); sister-in-law, Faye Cave (Steve) and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Claude and Alice(Somers) Nichols, brother James Nichols, and brother-in-law LeeRoy Spitzer.

Judy grew up in Luray, Virginia and graduated from Luray High School in 1961. She later settled in the Charlottesville, Virginia area and graduated from the UVA Nursing Program, where following after she started her career as an LPN in the NICU at UVA Hospital. After caring for the most medically challenged, she moved to Martha Jefferson Hospital where she eventually retired as a nurse, though she continued working as a Newborn Photographer. She enjoyed taking photos of her family and friends throughout her life.

Judy also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Every year, she would spend time at the beach with her nursing friends, and she also loved visiting her Daughter and Grandchildren in Virginia Beach. A couple of years ago, she moved to Virginia Beach to live with her family. Then moved into Bickford Assisted Living. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Bickford and Trinity Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Luray, VA at a later date.
