Heaven welcomed a force like no other. Our beloved Juana (Jenny) Perez, known for her vibrant spirit, love of family, and unapologetic authenticity, was joyfully reunited with the many loved ones who went before her. She lived nearly 91 incredible years, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
To know Jenny was to know warmth, celebration, and, of course, amazing food. Visiting her home meant stepping into a world of music, dancing, and the irresistible aroma of a home-cooked meal. She was the heart of every gathering—the head chef, the party starter, and the one who made sure everyone left full and happy. Her cooking lessons were legendary, filled with improvised measurements—“a chhchhchh of this, a little of that”—always guided by love rather than precision.
Jenny never needed a special occasion to celebrate. Whether it was a holiday, a clean house, or simply a Tuesday, she believed in turning up the music and making every moment a party. Her spirit was larger than life, and her presence was impossible to ignore. With a cigarette in one hand and a cold drink in the other, she made her opinions known—always with honesty and a touch of humor.
Born in strength and resilience, Jenny built a beautiful family. She is survived by her loving children, Magda, Myrna, Lorenzo, and Wilfredo. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Emily and Lorraine whom she now rejoins in eternal peace. She also leaves behind 15 of her 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, along with a few furry grandpets—all carrying a piece of her indomitable spirit. She was tough, she was loving, and she took no nonsense from anyone.
As her family continues to grow, her traditions and wisdom live on. Her ability to bring people together, to fill a home with joy, and to celebrate life in the smallest moments will never be forgotten. A new generation will carry on her legacy—whether through cooking, crocheting, or simply turning up the music and dancing in the kitchen.
While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she was welcomed with open arms by those who went before her. Heaven just gained a new guardian angel, and we know she’s already making it a livelier place.
In the famous words of Juana Perez: “I’ll drink to that.”
Rest easy, Abuela. Until we meet again.
